Welcome Aboard, Ron!

Sisters, Brothers, Friends and Supporters,

We have exciting news for you. Leonard's younger brother, Ron Szilagye Peltier, has accepted Leonard's invitation to join the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee as its new Director. Ron replaces David Hill who has returned to Oklahoma and will continue to help Leonard in other ways.

The extreme poverty that many Indigenous Peoples are subject to often makes it difficult for Native families to stay together. From the age of 4 to 8, Ron resided in 10 different foster homes! At the age of 8, Ron was adopted by Joseph and Margaret Szilagye of Toledo, Ohio. At an early age, Ron's musical talent emerged. As an adult, he has applied this gift-- in prison ministry, in particular -- and performed nationally and internationally. An above-average student in both high school and during his college years, Ron also has enjoyed success as a self-employed businessman for the past 20 years. Ron currently resides in Lansing, Michigan, with his wife Maureen and three of their four children.

Ron brings energy and a fresh outlook to the Committee that will help the Committee -- and Leonard's fight for freedom -- move forward during what promises to be a critical period.

Leonard is ecstatic to be in frequent contact with his brother and pleased with Ron's decision to join the struggle. He asks that you enthusiastically welcome Ron. The Board of Directors, Peltier attorneys, and office staff encourage all of you to work closely with Ron to achieve our shared goal -- freedom for Leonard Peltier.

Mitakuye Oyasin.
